Monday is my first day back to work after being on vacation since June 19th, when we had family from Germany come to visit us. During their visit we took them to many of the Western New York attractions. Taking visitors to see the Niagara Falls, which are only 20 minutes from our home, is a given and even though I have visited the Falls many times I don't mind going back. I enjoy taking pictures and trying to capture the force and the beauty of the falls.
But I also tried to let my family from Germany experience 'American life' without all the stress of running from one touristy spot to the next. We spend time at BBQ's and parties with friends and family, had dinner at some not so well known spots and played many games of Mexican train.
Every couple of days we had a relaxing day at BOTAJOMAR resort aka our backyard. I made this sign last year and the name evolved out of parts of our first names put together.
Our home and pool were build in 1982. A year after we bought the home, in 2006 we had the pool and patio area completly remodeled and the only thing original about the pool is the concrete shell. This is our safe heaven, our personal resort and at-home-vacation spot and I just love sitting here in the morning drinking my tea, reading a book and later in the day I enjoy the occasional dip in the pool with my family.
Come to think of it, it's time for another cup of tea to be enjoyed in the backyard and where did I put the Sunday paper???

Ah, your backyard and pool is beautiful, I am so envious! Your family is so lucky, they most certainly must have felt they were at a vacation resort! Even though, my parents are from Canada, I never got to see the falls, but your beautiful photo, is helping me to imagine it.
