A different kind of Valentines Day Table

I often wonder how you all come up with a theme
or an idea for a tablescape.
I'm amused by the 'around-about-way'
I often end up with a particular table setting.

My Mom's birthday was February 10th,
only a few days before Valentines Day,
which means this time of year my Mom is very often on my mind
and my thoughts go down memory lane.

I remembered when I was a kid we visited Paris,
I absolutely love that city, how can you not.

But anyway, I remember visiting the Eiffel tower with my mom,
walking through the city,
stopping to watch a Mime performing close to the river Seine...

All memories, very precious to me and all of them inspired this table.

I usually 'fill' my table with many dishes, glasses and decor items.
However this time I wanted each item I picked for a memory to
take center stage. I even eliminated some pieces from each place setting:
No place mats or charger, only one glass, no napkin rings and so on.

All of the dishes have different pattens,
the dinner and salad plates I found last year
at Marshalls and TJ Maxx. The bowls were
from The Christmas Tree shop.

Some people don't like clowns and I have to say I'm not overly
fond of them. But my Mom used to collect them and this one
was her favorite. When I thought of the Mime we saw all those
years back I thought this figurine would fit the bill.

The silverware is from Target and
the glasses are also a Christmas Tree Shop find.

I've had this small Eiffel tower for a while and found it
in the paper/office supply section at Target.

I'm not very talented when it comes to folding Napkins,
and this fold is actually incomplete;
you are supposed to pull all those folds up but I
liked how it looked 'incomplete'.

Some crystal salt cellars and candles in tarnished silver candle holders and
a different type of Valentines table, holding special memories for someone
that has a huge piece of my heart is created.

I love you Mama!

Have a wonderful Thursday,

This is a great table! I really like it; simple, yet elegant and very tres chic!
I've tried that napkin fold myself, it's called the "bird of paradise" fold...and you're right, it's hard to do! I like it the way you left it with the points down!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it all. The Eiffel Tower and the Fleur de lis and then the clown. Too cute. Your dark goblets are gorgeous too. Polka dots are just one of my all time favorites, so of course I fell in love with this tablescape. Hugs, Marty

Tam, a lovely tablescape dedicated to your Mom's memory and what could be more perfect than the Eiffel tower representing the City of Love for Valentine's Day! Love the colours you choose to combine.

This is all just stunning--the black and white are so crisp together! Whether you do your tablescapes "round about way" or like this, with items representing specific memories, they always turn out great! Hugs, Lana

What a sweet post. I'm sure this is a hard time of year. She looks so young to have died in the picture you have posted of her. Your dishes are GORGEOUS, and I'm not a big fan of clowns either, but that one is really cute.

Love your fleur de lys bowls, Tam! The Eiffel Tower is great, too! Can't believe it was in the office section ~ you think they'd have it in with home decor items.

I cannot think of a better way to honor and raise up your mother and your love for her. I wish I had thought of it...My mother has been gone from her earthly existence for almost 20 years. Her birthday was in August but you can bet next August she will have a tablescape in her honor. Thanks so much for sharing. Joan
