It's Monday, and time to share our photo mosaics
for Mosaic Monday hosted by Mary @ Little Red House.
On Sunday I 'played' with one of my Christmas presents.
A Chef's Choice Waffle Pro
I've been wanting for sooooooo long.
It had to be this one, because sections of the waffles are little hearts.
Just like my Mama used to make on Sundays when I was a kid.
I love my waffles soft with a little powder sugar but these
are also great with butter and syrup or fruit.
I searched for my Mama's Waffle recipe and was surprised
at the large amount of dough she used to make.
As I was reading through the recipe I was wondering if I
should half the ingredients
until I saw a note on the very bottom saying
"Freeze half and refrigerate
other half for a few days of fresh waffles".
So I made the huge bowl of dough and followed Mama's suggestion.
Now I can make a few Waffles each morning and next time I crave
them I can take the other container out of the freezer.
I translated her recipe, which is in metric since we are German.
Mama's Waffles
500 grams of sugar
500 grams of margarine, softened
10 eggs
2 packs of vanilla sugar
(This is a small envelope from Dr. Oetker)
2 tablespoons of rum
(But you could substitute with a little almond extract or rum extract if you like)
1000 grams of flour
1 liter milk
1 package baking powder
(This is another small envelope from Dr. Oetker but I think it's
the equivalent to about 2 teaspoons of baking powder)
Cream together the eggs, margarine and sugar.
Add vanilla sugar and the Rum.
Add the 1000 g flour and the baking powder, the dough will be sticky
but now add the milk and beat it until it's smooth.
Place about 1/3 cup of dough into the waffle maker and
bake them to your desired texture and crispiness.

No other word but YUMMY!
Your waffles look absolutely yummy....I like the idea of having the batter fresh in the fridge for a few days.
Mmm, mouth-watering! Clever, too, to make double and freeze half. I love finding things in the freezer already prepared!

Oh, oh, oh, my favorite thing in all the world!!! WAFFLES! How is you waffle iron working. Do they stick at all?? I remember my Mom making waffles when we were little and I swear they would stick every time!! She'd get so mad : )) I eat Eggos but they don't have that homemade taste.
