A new year and decade...

A new year, a new decade just started.

I hope all of you had a very Happy New Year.

2010 and the past decade has been a mixed bag

and I am glad to see it go. I'm looking forward

to a brighter year and a better decade.

Last January I chose a word for 2010 and that word was

Embrace.

I was able to embrace some of the items on my list

but with some doors that closed and new ones that

opened I decided to choose

a new mantra:

Contentment

con·tent·ment

  [kuhn-tent-muhnt]

the state of being contented; satisfaction; ease of mind.

2.

Archaic . the act of making contentedly satisfied.

Change has always been difficult for me to deal with

but with the family related heartache over the past couple

of years I've come to realize that the saying:

The only constant is change

is so very true. I finally learned that change

means some things will end to make room for others

to begin, all being part of growing and renewing ourselves.

I will strive to become content

with the changes in my life...

and look forward to the new beginnings that these changes have brought.

No longer grieving what has ended, but instead looking at it as a chapter

of my life closed, valuable lessons learned, that contributed

to make me grow into the person I have become.
